Founder’s Story — The Journey of Nettle Essentials

Some journeys begin with a business idea.
Ours began with a place, a tradition, and a forgotten herb.

For more than 70 years, my grandmother has visited an ashram in Almora every year, and for the past 12 years I have been visiting the same place. Growing up, the mountains, the people, and the herbs of the region were always familiar to me. One of those herbs was Nettle — locally known and respected for generations.

Yet, like many of us, life took a conventional path. I was focused on my studies and later settled into a well-paying job, without ever imagining that the herb I had seen since childhood would one day shape my life’s work.

Everything changed when I decided to step away from my job and explore something of my own. During one of my visits to the ashram in Almora, a local acquaintance spoke about Nettle oil being used for joint and back pain relief. That conversation sparked my curiosity.

When I began researching nettle, I was astonished by the depth of its benefits. Beyond traditional uses, nettle was known to support hair regrowth, skin health, blood pressure balance, weight management, and even provide rich plant-based protein and calcium.

The more I learned, the more fascinated I became.

Soon after, I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Vasudha Pant, a researcher who had spent six years studying nettle and completed her PhD on the subject. Listening to her speak about nettle was truly mesmerizing. She could talk endlessly about its medicinal value, nutritional richness, and the untapped potential this plant holds.

That meeting changed everything.

With the guidance of experienced researchers and the wisdom of local communities, I made a commitment to build something meaningful — a brand dedicated to bringing the power of nettle to everyday life.

From the beginning, Nettle Essentials was built around two clear principles:

1. Uncompromising product quality — sourcing the finest nettle directly from farmers in the Himalayan region.
2. Creating awareness — helping people rediscover the incredible benefits of this overlooked herb.

What started as curiosity soon became a mission.
